Shhhh! It's the News!
1974-1975

"Shhh! It's The News" was the "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" of its day; a comic examination of what was making headlines across the country.

The half hour weekly program was the brainchild of Barry McCoughlin, an enterprising 19 years old who, legend has it, got the show simply by charming the pants off of CJOH megachair E.L. Bushnell (Barry now charms the pants off of corporate executives trying to look good in front of the media; he's a Harvard educated media consultant.) The series was a partnership between CJOH and then newborn Global TV. The series was shot in Ottawa, starring an amalgam of home grown (Bill Luxton, Les Lye) and T.O. (Jack Duffy, Barbara Hamilton, Don Haron) talent.
